Yes, another name change for the outdoor concert venue. Coca-Cola Starplex/Starplex/Smirnoff Music Centre is now named after the listings search engine. Check out Thor's story here.

Do you think you'll get used to calling it "SuperPages.com Center"? Tell us what you think.

It'll always be the Starplex to me. Or maybe the Super Starplex, kind of like Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros.

I'm going to call it "The H-T-T-P, colon, slash, slash, www, dot, SuperPages, dot com, Center, slash, rock-star, slash, stage of glory, slash, at fair park, slash where's my dang giant pretzel and $7 dollar beer it's too dang hot to sit on the grass ... center. That's what I'm going to call it. But that's just me.

I'm going to call it "the why the hell do they schedule outdoor concerts here in August Center" The place has always been crap.

They never should have dropped the "sponsored by" after the REAL name of various venues. Starplex sponsored by Superpages.com is what it should be called. But then, I was partial to "The Vodka Dome" when Smirnoff was the sponsor. Guess I'll start calling it "The Phone Dome"

"The Smirnoff"... That's what it was for me growing up in Dallas, so it'll always be that. Kind of like "The Ballpark in Arlington." I don't even know what the ballpark's actual name is now.

Always called it Starplex, always will call it Starplex.

I know what I'll probably call it: The Place I Haven't Been To In Nearly A Decade Because It's Too Expensive And There's Rarely A Concert I'm Interested In Seeing There Anymore. (TPIHBTINADBITEATRACIIISTA, for short.)

But seriously, I haven't been there much since my heavy-metal days, though I'll always be grateful for the daylong jazz festival held there that turned out to be the only time I ever got to see Miles Davis live. I also have fond memories of Steely Dan and Harry Connick, Jr. concerts there, but there hasn't been much that's been up my alley lately.

I'm still gonna call it too expensive to go.

Starplex Smirnoff Super Center. Try saying that five times fast! I think it will end up being called the Super Center.

I'll always call it the Starplex or simply Smirnoff. I don't understand why these companies pay for naming rights, I've said Smirnoff hundreds of times and have yet to buy one bottle, nor will I.

I think SuperPages.com is rediculous. It is just Starplex for me.

Personally, I really don't think all it's that long just two words really and maybe a few syllables. The logo is pretty freaking cool! Love reference to the Dallas skyline and the guitar shape.

I will always think of this venue as Starplex.

Posted by Jim @ 10:19 AM Thu, Jan 31, 2008

One word: Starplex

Posted by Cris @ 10:52 AM Thu, Jan 31, 2008

It's the Starplex. Period. I hate these corporate names and they do nothing but piss people off. I'm not going to use superpages.com now just because they named a venue after themselves. Pointless.

Posted by Robin @ 11:41 AM Thu, Jan 31, 2008

LAME corporate marketing decision. You would think they would realize by now that renaming a local venue only irritates consumers.
I've called it Smirnoff for a couple years, but now I'm going to call it Starplex.

The "Sweatplex" is the Sweatplex by any other name. Will the corporate-naming madness never end?!

Always the "Venue from Hell" to me.

A 20 oz. bottle of water, you say? That'll 5 bucks. Moo-wa-ha-ha-ha!
