David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen on the same stage together? And what about Eddie's 16-year-old son as bass player? (I said drummer before geez, a slip of the keys, people!) We want to know if Saturday night's concert had you Dancing in the Streets! Hot for Teacher! If it was the Best of Both Worlds! If it made you wanna Jump!
But if Jamie's Cryin' (this is so fun!) because she didn't get to see the show, tell her not to. Van Halen's coming back to the AAC in March for a second concert.
Also, tell us if you liked the opening act, Ky-Mani Marley.
Um....16 year old son is bassist, not drummer.
The show was awesome! Van Halen, like it was still 1984. Happy birthday Eddy. David Lee Roth reminded us of why the post-Roth era of VH never got off the ground. The show can't go on without the RingMaster.
Van Halen Saturday night at the AAC was a night to remember. Several things come to mind while remembering the show. First of all, Eddie Van Halen is by far and away one of the top guitarists of all time. His mastery of the guitar is magic. His guitar solo reminded me what's missing from today's groups. Second, David Lee Roth was born to do one thing in life, and last night, he did it. Although I was a little disappointed in the campiness of some sets with him, it did not get in the way of his return as the voice of VH. And Wolfgang Van Halen on bass guitar, a 16 year old BTW, was excellent.
I was happy to be about halfway back on the side in the first few rows of the first deck. The seats were fine for a concert, but they provided GIANT screens behind stage that added to the experience.
Song after song after song were unbelieveable. If you're one of those purists who wants to hear a song sound just like it does on a CD or even performed like in the early days of MTV, this concert did not disappoint.
DLR did the shrieks that made him famous, with the giant smile and even the giant leg kicks.
It was great to see that whatever differences pulled them apart are gone, as they truly enjoyed each other and the performance showed it.
It was a great show. A GREAT show!! Worth every penny, and even the cost of the beer at the AAC.
I would only hope that somehow, somewhere, they would record another truly inspired CD, reminiscent of the old days of VH. Hearing their collection of music in that environment reminded me of the greatness of VH and their influence on Great R&R.
Hey it's bass player not drummer (Ed's son).
good concert, but serious problems with encore Jump.... I suspect they were using a sequencer for the synths... never easy to follow the perfect timing of a machine. they should be using a off-stage keyboard player who can follow Alex.
Wolfgang doesn't quite fit the svelte, sinewy look of the others... his next band should be with Jack Osbourne.
enjoyable concert none-the-less...
I didn't see the show, but Eddie's son played bass, not drums. Eddie's brother Alex is still the drummer...
Wolfgang plays bass. Not the drums. How could someone that writes about music not know that? That is some very basic knowledge.
The show was great, by the way.
First of all Eddie's son doesn't play the drums. Alex Van Halen is his brother. The show was great! Do you even care with a mixup like that?
Van Halen gave the fans what they wanted Saturday night and exceeded expectations. They didn't rework their songs as the Police did for their reunion. They didn't tune down their songs like Led Zeppelin did for their reunion. They went out and cranked out all those classic songs as if it were 1984 once again. After all these years Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth still have the chemestry which will forever have them as one of Rock's greatest duos. For the two plus hours they were on stage it reminded all in attendance what fun rock music used to be. Before bands and their lables worried about how many ringtones they can sell, or if their song will be played on Grey's Anatomy.
Eddie's son on drums? What did his brother do? I thought young Wolfgang was playing bass...
DMN, you can start by getting Eddie's 16-year old son's instrument right - bass, not drums. Very uncool, DMN.
Did the writer of this question even hear a Van Halen song before?
Umm Ed's 16 year old son Wolfgang is the bass player, Alex Van Halen (Ed's brother) is the drummer.
Concert was great with the exception of my seat (sec 308), partially obstructed view and sound issues from that location.
The band played great, fired one hit after another. Wolfie is becoming a pretty good bass player but needs to liven up a bit on stage.
So Wolfgang plays drums and bass now?
Busy kid.
What can you say...
Van Halen on a Saturday Night in Dallas, with the whole AAC crowd singing Happy Birthday to Eddie...
Classic Evening
As a huge Van Halen fan of all eras, I knew that Diamond Daves' inclusion back into the gig along with the most famous and talented American six string slinger on the planet next to his son for the first time would be a venue of historical significance.I was not disappointed. They gave us a monumental show to let us all know: Hey, We're back and as great as we've ever been. They are a must see if you get the opportunity.Get ready to have your world Rocked
First thing to know, Wolgang plays Bass, Alex Van Halen is the drummer.
Eddies son plays bass. His brother plays drums.
uuuuhhhh???? Eddie son the drummer. Uh no...that would still be Eddie's brother Alex. Wolfie is the bassist. And I really don't think they did "Best of Boht Worlds" either (psst.... It's a Sammy song) as in Hagar, Sammy Hagar.
Eddie's son actually was playing bass....Eddie's brother (Alex) was playing drums as he has done since day 1.....Overall a great combination and I was shocked at how Dave's voice held up. I only really heard it strain on Jump and that was the last song, so a full night you definitely had at AAC with VH World Tour 2008...
Isn't Eddie's son the bass player, not the drummer?
It was terrible
Eddies son as drummer? Dont know much about Van Halen do we? Stick to the Jonas brothers...
Also is Section 308 Saturday night...great show by DLR, Eddie, Alex, and Wolfgang VH.
Review written by my friend Ron, who attended with me and my 10-year old son:

The show was GREAT!!! I have been a fan of the original lineup of this band since day ONE! I am so glad to see that the PT Barnum of rock n roll is back where he belongs......in front of this talented family of musicians! Dave was AWESOME!!! I cant tell you how fantastic it was to see him and Eddie banter again after 27 looong years.
NOW, for the dissappointment......here's the email I sent to IloveAllAccess: do NOT, I repeat..DO NOT buy these tickets for the March show if you are planning on going.......
Good afternoon.
I am in need of some answers from your organization. My friends and I attended the Van Halen show in Dallas this past Saturday.
1) Why is it that a ticket with a $149.00 face value costs us $499.00 a piece? I am sorry, but a beer opener (of which I have several) a fridge magnet (same), and small pin do not justify $350.00 which is the difference between the actual face value of the ticket, and what we paid.
2) Why were we lead to believe that we could possibly have front row seats through your program? it said that by paying $499.00 we would be seated within the first 20 rows. In actuality, it should have said we would be seated anywhere between rows 15 and 20. The first 10 rows were reserved for the poor fools who paid $1000.00 each. We were two rows outside of the stage runner. it was so high up, we could not see the main stage. The security guards were in the way, the ramp was in the way, we had to stand up the whole time. for $499.00, I find this inexcuseable.
c) I would like for you to somehow justify the outrageous expense we incurred, and I would also like for you to justify how $10.00 worth of crap in an envelope is worth an extra $350.00 in addition to the ticket price.
We would like a promt amswer to this email and a timely refund of our $350.00 each (for each of the three tickets) or we will be seeking legal action.
This is nothing short of ticket scalping and in THIS state, that is illegal.
Didn't go to VH concert but would like to go the next one in march. the drummer/bass slipup is human error, so lets not slay the DMN employee. you guys who commented rather harshly should get back to flipping burgers ......
Great show for the eyes. Hard on the ears. Without stacks of amps producing deafening sound, live music in a big box with little acoustical design for the big rock shows will just sound bad. Reduce it to just Eddie's guitar solo and it gets decent, but add the whole band and you get mush.
I'm one of the VH fans. I do have a special love for their style. The band has really addded a lot of things to hard rok music. I attend a lot of their concerts eventhough somtimes it becomes so hard to book a seat. A friend has recommended me a site for comparing ticket prices. And I think it would be useful for you too, music lovers:

God bless the guys!!!!!!!!
