Kenny Chesney leads the Academy of Country Music nominations with 11, and Mario's girl Miranda Lambert has three noms, including Best Female Artist. She's got competition, because his, um, not-favorite girl Carrie Underwood got a nod for that category, too. Should be an interesting race. Who do you want to win? I'll be pulling for Miranda myself "Gunpowder and Lead," I mean, come on. The show will air May 18 on CBS. Who are you pulling for? Also, check out these fast facts from the press release. even Kelly Clarkson got a nomination: TOP NOMINEES: Kenny Chesney leads with 11 nominations This is Reba McEntire's tenth year hosting the Academy of Country Music Awards. If Kenny Chesney wins Entertainer of the Year, it will be his fourth consecutive win, and he will be tied with Garth Brooks for that honor. Alabama still holds the lead with 5 consecutive wins. If Brooks & Dunn win Top Vocal Duo, it will be their 13th consecutive win. They also have the highest wins of any nominee, with 24 awards. If Rascal Flatts win Top Vocal Group, it will be their sixth consecutive win. This will tie them with Alabama, who is the lead. Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift lead female nominations, including both gaining nods in the Album of the Year category. Besides being nominated for four awards as the duo Big &Rich, John Rich is up for a producer award and writer award. Big Kenny is up for 2 producer awards. George Strait and Garth Brooks are tied for 18 wins. George is nominated for 2 awards this year. First time nominee Sarah Buxton, up for Top New Female, wrote Keith Urban's smash hit "Stupid Boy." First time nominee Kelly Clarkson is up for Vocal Event of the Year. Sheryl Crow is nominated for the second year in a row for Vocal Event. She won last year with "Building Bridges" with Brooks & Dunn and Vince Gill. The Eagles have only been nominated one other time, in 1975 for Top Vocal Group. Bon Jovi is nominated for the second time for Vocal Event of the Year. E-mail entry: |

I'm so happy Miranda Lambert is up for album of the year. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is an incredible piece of work - fierce and vulnerable, traditional and modern. She probably won't win that, but the nomination means she continues to gain industry momentum.
I like Miranda and also hope she finally wins one of the major awards. As for Carrie, per today's R&Ratings, her second release 'All American Girl' from the Mario D+ rated album Carnival Ride has gone to number One...just like the first single 'So Small'. With 'Just a Dream' & 'Last Name' waiting on deck, she may have 4 or 5 #1's off of CR. Not bad for a "backup singer who got lucky".
