According to Billboard, Solange Knowles has set an Aug. 26 date for her second CD, titled Sol-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams. Producers for this album include Raphael Saadiq, Cee-Lo, Q-Tip, Mark Ronson and Pharrell, which broadcasts (to me, anyway) that she's going in a decidedly different direction from any of her previous efforts to grab some star shine. Remember her duet with Bow Wow?

OK, you need further proof that she might be going in a new direction (besides the all-too-funky and Cee-Lo-like title)? Bilal wrote a song, and Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry performs on a track with her. But just to make sure she gets a radio hit, she does have a song with Lil Wayne, called "Champagnechronicnightcap." Remember, you gotta hit all the bases or the run doesn't count.

Here's the story by Mariel Concepcion from Billboard.com:

LOS ANGELES -- Solange Knowles has penciled in an Aug. 26 release date for her second album, "Sol-Angel and The Hadley Street Dreams." The project boasts production from Cee-Lo, Q-Tip, Mark Ronson, Raphael Saadiq and Pharrell -- who steered the first single, "I Decided."
Other songs on "Sol-Angel" include the Bilal-penned "Cosmic Journey," "Wanna Go Back" featuring Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry, the Estelle-assisted "Same Song, Different Man," and "Champagnechronicnightcap," alongside Lil Wayne.
In addition, Knowles pays homage to Marvin Gaye on "Ode to Marvin," her version of "What's Going On." "T.O.N.Y.," "Sandcastle Disco" and "Would've Been The One" also appear on the album.
The video for "I Decided" is directed by Melina and features Knowles in settings from "American Bandstand," the Civil Rights movement, new wave and a "Cosmic Journey" atmosphere.
Knowles' 2003 debut, "Solo Star" reached No. 23 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and has sold 112,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen Soundscan.
