Gangsta rap was conceived, created, produced, promoted, sold and primarily purchased by black people for the financial benefit of other black people, so Alicia's comments don't wash. As for the AK-47 necklace - just another entertainer pandering to her target audience in search of the almighty buck. See above.

i have been going to springsteen concerts since the early '80s and this was one of the best. i did miss danny and patti. i don't agree with his politics but i don't doubt that he loves his country. his songs are full of struggling people who have great hope and he sang a great ode to the immigrants that built this country. a real bruce fan knows that born in the usa is not his "greatest" song and the earlier music is what first brought him fame. i was happy to say that i was able to hear some of my "bucket" songs but was disappointed that rosalita didn't come out last night.

I used to think Keys had some talent and class, but I guess she's just another moron with more of a stage than she deserves.

Boy, talking about flushing your career. I really thought she was a little better than this.

Just another piano player looking for street cred. Seriously though, I enjoy several songs by Alicia but this comment seems a little over the top. Gangsta rap is about thugs killing each other or yapping about wanting to kill each other but it seems more boastful of this than instructional. I can't say I am a fan of gansta rap but some don't like what I listen to either so live and let live.

Once upon a time ago, I had much respect for Alicia Keys' talent, voice, and soul. After reading this, I must retract. It is not possible to respect the talents of an individual who possesses the logic of a moron.

Gangsta rap a ploy to make blacks kill each other?
B.S. Blacks invented this type of so called music. B.S.

This just proves that talent has its limitations but stupid is amazingly endless. Also, if Jessica Simpson said something like this there would be outrage and condemnation from the black community and she would be a "dumb blonde". This is an attempt to deflect the problems of the black community on to whitey. Not good, but what do you expect from a moron?

Alicia is a talented artist but I think it's pretty safe to say that she is an idiot.
I first read about her interview with Blender from my fellow blogger Juan Perez over on Highbrid Nation. I couldnt beleive it. I had always thought she was smart. Little did I know. In reality she is a cross between a Black Panther and a retard.
...she still looks good though ;).

Stupid sh@!, I have never heard of anything so crazy as this. Does anyone even respect her as a role model for living in a fantasy world. Only a child or teenager would believe something like this. The government getting involved in rap! LOL ...get real...LOL! LOL!

Hate to break it to you, but she's telling the truth.
I'm a Senior Government Person and we talk about this stuff at our meetings all the time. Just the other day we were talking about how to keep the black man down in a closed door session of the Senate. Turns out we voted (secretly of course) to keep seeding the ghetto with gangsta rap and making drugs available black youth.
It's all us, the black community bears no responsibility whatsoever for any of this.
