Steven Curtis Chapman's daughter killed

chapman2.jpgContemporary Christian music giant Steven Curtis Chapman's 5-year-old daughter Maria Sue was fatally struck yesterday by an SUV driven by one of her brothers. Read the report here.

Scores of the Grammy- and Dove Award-winning artist's songs were closely intertwined with my spiritual upbringing. We sang them in church, and our youth group attended his concerts. The Champans are good folks and are heavily involved in nonprofit work. He and wife Mary Beth started Shaohannah's Hope to help families defray the costs of international adoption (his daughter who died was adopted from China), and they advocate for international relief charity World Vision, among others.

My condolences to the family. Share your thoughts.

My heart goes out to Steven and his wife. I have buried a child myself.... and its a horrible thing. If your grandmother dies your sad, but when it's your baby! It's so hard not to have anger at God for taking her away to soon.
I'm praying for you.

We share a similar upbringing and it just broke my heart this morning to hear this story. I can't even imagine what they are going through, but our prayers are with them.

May our loving God wrap his arms around the Chapman family and give them comfort. We can share our love for them by lifting them up in prayer.

This is such a tragic situation. I pray the Lord will comfort them. Who are we to question God's plan? The Lord knew this was going to happen, and He will work even in this. In Christ.

We don't understand sometimes, why things happened the way they do. But God has a reason for everything. He has another angel to his heaven. You and your family has my sympathy. God bless all of you. sachristian-virginia
