The Guide staff has been tirelessly listing all of the area music festivals and outdoor concert series shows lately. And I'm noticing that there's a few names of bands that I spend a lot of time swapping from one festival lineup to another. Granted, there's plenty of people in the metroplex (several million) and they don't all go to the same festivals. But I'm just curious: Are any festival goers out there getting turned off by seeing the same band names over and over and over? Here's a few familiar ones: Asleep at the Wheel, Texas Gypsies, South Austin Jug Band, Havana NRG, Brave Combo. I love all these bands but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Anybody out there getting "festival band fatigue?" P.S. Kudos to Rock and Roll in the Bowl (city of Plano's fest) for booking Carolyn Wonderland. She doesn't get up here to Dallas enough. |

I kind of like how the same names turn up again and again. I love festival season, and it's kind of cool knowing I don't have to check to see who's playing at any of them. Even though these bands tour around other places, I'm sure, it still creates a tad of regional pride in me. And really ... would it seem right at all if Brave Combo wasn't at EVERY single festival in North Texas?
