Prince was in control during "The Gold Experience"

Prince_Gold.jpgLet us time travel back to 1995. Warner Bros. Records finally releases Prince's The Gold Experience after the superstar artist publically battled with the label. The imprint delayed putting the CD in stores a year earlier because they had already shipped his Come disc. Prince wanted them released simultaneously. Anyway, politics aside, The Gold Experience is a wicked creative achievement. It merges soul, rock and pop as only Prince Rogers Nelson could. Back then he was calling himself that unpronounceable symbol. But the name didn't matter. The music did. "P Control," his amazingly groove-a-licious ode to female power, opens the Experience with a serious bang. Other standouts are the Jimi Hendrix-inspired "Endorphinmachine" and the gorgeous ballad, "The Most Beautiful Girl In the World."
