Just got a call from Candis Wheat with the State Fair of Texas, which is busy whipping things together for this year's version of the nation's largest state fair. She shared the first wave of music artists that've been booked to the Chevrolet Main Stage. Most are country artists, but one is a Latin-music mainstay in Texas and the other hopes to generate a repeat of the Jonas Brothers madness that ensued at last year's SFoT. Emerging country trio Lady Antebellum will open the fair on Sept. 26. Academy of Country Music Top Male Vocalist winner Rodney Atkins is set for Oct. 3. American Idol Season Five alum Kellie Pickler will perform on Oct. 5. Metal shredder-turned-country-rock hunk Kevin Fowler will play after the annual Texas-OU football game on Oct. 11. Seventeen-year-old tweener star Jordan Pruitt will hit it on Oct. 13. And A.B. Quintanilla brings his Kumbia All-Starz to Fair Park to close the fair on Oct. 19. And guess what? Ticket prices will be unchanged this year ($14 for adults), and all concerts are free with admission. Huzzah! E-mail entry: |

2008 Chevrolet Main Stage, Dallas, Texas
2008 TEXAS STATE FAIR
Arkansas’ top southern rockers, Further Down, will headline the 2008 Texas State Fair in Dallas, Texas, during the weekend of the Texas-OU Game. The Band will perform on Friday, October 10, 2008. Shows times at 4:00 p.m., 5:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on the 2008 Chevrolet Main Stage.
The Texas State Fair is the largest fair in the U.S. Other artists scheduled to perform during the fair this year include: Jessica Simpson, Michelle Branch and Rodney Atkins.
