When a singer asks the audience, "Anyone got a beer," he's probably not asking for the airborne variety.

Which makes me wonder: What's the stupidest thing you've witnessed someone in the crowd do during a concert?

It's like a bad dream filled with hair extensions, big mouths and strained neck muscles ... but you have to give them credit for the charitable effort.

Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, (stay with me now) Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, (hold on) Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis, LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood are lending their voices to a single that will benefit cancer research. That's 15, go ahead, count them. I'll wait. ... OK, that's 15 melismatic sanguhs (Where's Christina?) who will appear on the same stage at the same time live (!) on Sept. 5. You can run, but you won't be able to hide: The "Stand Up to Cancer" TV special will air at the same time on ABC, NBC and CBS.

The good news is the song was produced by Antonio "L.A." Reid and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, who know how to make a heart-wrenching ode to anything (see Boyz II Men and TLC). I'll be watching, though. I won't be able to help myself. (I just hope there's gonna be a dress code.)

If you like your jazz singers on the pop side (or should that be "pop singers on the jazz side"), Michael Buble will return to the area Oct. 11 at the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena. He was likable enough when he played Nokia Theatre earlier this year, but be forewarned that he likes to work blue: After the show, I got several letters from fans who were upset by some of his off-color jokes.

Julio Iglesias, who canceled his scheduled appearance here in April, has just announced that he's canceling a good portion of the dates on his domestic tour, including Sept. 3 at the Meyerson.

Ticketholders can exchange tickets for another performance at the venue or get a refund by contacting the DSO box office at 214-692-0203. And this time, according to a press release from the DSO, there are no plans to reschedule.
