Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, (stay with me now) Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, (hold on) Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis, LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood are lending their voices to a single that will benefit cancer research. That's 15, go ahead, count them. I'll wait. ... OK, that's 15 melismatic sanguhs (Where's Christina?) who will appear on the same stage at the same time live (!) on Sept. 5. You can run, but you won't be able to hide: The "Stand Up to Cancer" TV special will air at the same time on ABC, NBC and CBS. The good news is the song was produced by Antonio "L.A." Reid and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, who know how to make a heart-wrenching ode to anything (see Boyz II Men and TLC). I'll be watching, though. I won't be able to help myself. You're right; where's Christina? That's a pretty conspicuous absence. Even Pink? Well, as long as they got Mary in there. And you're right again - the stage is going to buckle under the weight of all that melisma and hair-uh.
