Isn't it a conflict of interest to have John Mayer's lover writing the review of his concert in this morning's paper? That was one of the most vomitous reviews I've ever read.
If it was tongue in cheek about John Mayer's image, I apologize and it was genius. But, otherwise, get a grip. "Oozed out with a chewy, sexy drawl" and "he's a divine intervention away from religious importance" ?! - vomit!!!
John, you should get a restraining order.

the concert was O.K..... He just needs to start playing his own music and leave the Tom Petty alone. As far as the venue itself.... Hot! I know you can't do anything with the weather, but I was sweating like a pig.

Where is said review, Sarah?? I've searched my paper and online and can't find one review of Friday night's show...
As for my review, I loved it. One of the best concerts I've ever been to was JM and Maroon 5 a few years ago in the same venue. Besides the temperature, I thought it was a fabulous show.

I thought the concert was one of his best. This was the 8th time I had seen John in concert and it was hands down by far his best. The best parts were the fact that he was shirtless and the encore! It was so great!

Glad to read that my review was 'genius,' because I'm most certainly not Mr. Mayer's lover.
To explain: Mr. Mayer has the broadest sex appeal of any male American rock musician today, and he played that up to top effect at Saturday's show. There's a reason why his fan base is three-fourths female, even after he transitioned toward blues and jazz with his trio and on "Continuum" in the past three years -- and after his anointing as a so-called 'guitar god' by a number of sources (including some of the best living blues and rock players on the planet), which has increased his male fan base. He was a captivating presence on Saturday, and he appears as natural in that role as ever at this stage in his career.
My tact was farce. As a critic I was enthralled by the performance as a whole, and I elicited that in print. Nothing more. You had to be there.
