Heck no. Poor lineup and it's too hot.
There will be many an empty seat.
Not going. Economy, heat, crowds...not worth it.
Economy is not the reason I'm going. $75 bucks for the cheapest ticket is the reason I'm not going.
That and PHP is not a great place for a festival like this....damn near no shade...
what color are the wristbands ?
Well we made it to Ozzfest and here's how it went.
Got to Pizza Hut Park with reservations about the heat and lack of shade around 3pm. Got in and they wouldn't let us bring our water bottles in, but no big deal water vendors were everywhere. It was a toasty 101 at that time.
We caught about 20 mins of Cavelera Conspiracy (boys from Sepultura and it was rocking.
We then caught the full 3O minutes of The Sword. This band actually brought down the house. The best band we saw at the show for me. Catch them if you can. Very, very tight band.
It was now around 4:40 PM and the Westside of the Stadium was getting some shade now in the bleachers. Bought a beer and some water and headed over that way to watch Jonathan Davis. He did some Korn tunes and for the most part did his part to keep the crowd going. We were thrilled find the shade, no doubt. Nice thing was that the crowd had plenty of ladies and half of those were in bikini tops. Gotta love the Texas heat.
Hellyeah came on and had the crowd rocking without a doubt. The tribute was awesome with pictures of Dime everywhere on the big screens and the metal vets coming out to pay tribute.
Took a break after that to get some viddles and a another beer and water. Started to cool down now as we were around 6pm or so.
Then came Serj to the stage and while quirky as he is, wasn't too bad for the crowd either. True to his style he bitched about the war and president. Nothing new. We then caught some good seats on the west side of the stadium which is now all shade as Ozzy get's on the set. Now here was the surprising stuff. Ozzy brought all he had and was the best I've seen him in 20 years. Full of energy and absolutely had the crowd bouncing. Best guess at attendance was probably around 40k. Plus or minus. Boobs everywhere all afternoon. Ozzy had an absolute riot with the water cannon as he continually was showering the the pit which was at least 10K rockers strong. He sang all of his old and new tunes and Zach did an amazing 15 minute solo that was the bomb. You could tell the crowd and Ozzy were having a blast so he rolled another 30 minute past his time.
Note: I had major reservations about the sound at this place, but to my delight the sound system was amazing. Loud, clear with no distortion and a 100ft x 40ft High Def screen above the stage. Very amazing. Not a bad seat in the joint.
Metallica came on around 10:45 or so and played everthing in their common list plus a couple of new tunes from their Death Magnetic disc along with a closing cool ass tune with King Diamond. Show was over around 12:30 and everyone left exhausted without a doubt. Over all show was exceptional, from the scenery, sound, lines were a little long but no big deal. Excellent metal show, glad to be a witness to it.
