Dallas band Somebody's Darling snagged a recording contract with Shiner Records after winning the 2008 Shiner Rising Star competition. The group, fronted by lead singer Amber Farris, prevailed among 24 bands and through 16 weeks of live shows
judged by recording artists Deryl Dodd and Darryl Lee Rush as well as former Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Joe Avezzano. Somebody's Darling will record in Nashville with noted producer Dan Baird, formerly of Georgia Satellites. The CD is expected to be released in late spring. In addition to Farris on lead vocals and guitar, Somebody's Darling features David Ponder on lead guitar, Nate Wedan on drums and Michael Talley on bass. Catch Somebody's Darling Jan. 16 at Sue Ellen's in Dallas; Jan. 31 at City Tavern in Dallas; and March 22 at the KHYI 13th Annual Texas Music Revolution in Parker.
