There's not a one classic Motown artist that I don't like, but I'm particularly partial to Stevie Wonder and Teena Marie. Both of them accomplished the improbable and certainly the unexpected. Who's your favorite Motown artist? Photo: The still explosive Teena Marie (Randee St. Nicholas). E-mail entry: |

The Temptations is my favorite Motown artist. The string of big hits in the Sixties and early Seventies is still unmatched and this was accomplished even through changes within the group and music genre(Soul to R&B).I wish more was revealed about the inner workings of the group and their relationship to Motown.Eddie Kendricks was the best.
I'm from Gary, IN and not surprisingly the Jackson 5 is my favorite Motown group of all time. I lived a few blocks from them growing up and got a chance to see them perform at West Side High School and win the Gary talent show before they hit it big. "I Want You Back", "ABC", "The Love You SAve" got it all started for me at Motown. I still remember stopping by the music store to pick up their 45s with the bright blue Motown label. The good 'ol days.
